Pretty ladybugs

climbing January’s snow.

Is the lady bug actually outside?

We have Asian Lady Bugs here. They are this totally annoying invasive species. They look like lady bugs but they aren’t quite as red, and they come inside the house during winter. I hate them. They show up out of nowhere on cold January nights and fly in circles around a lamp, only to dive bomb into the light and then burn themselves to a crisp, sending up a little plume of smoke and a nasty smell.

The dogs figured out long ago that they shouldn’t eat them. I’m guessing them must be really bitter or something. The dogs used to lick them up and then spit them out. Now, if they see one crawling on the floor, they sniff it and walk away.
