my cheekbones feel

as though they might

pop through my skin

Despite the negative air temp, I decided to walk little Han Min to school this morning. Previously this week, it was so cold I started the car and drove him, which felt like such a production considering we live next door to his preschool! Today I decided to brave the cold and do the walk.

The walk there didn’t feel so bad, perhaps because I was busy trying to hurry the little guy along. But going home, by myself, it felt SO cold! Running up the driveway, all I could think about was how cold my face was! I thought to myself, “I’ve never ‘felt’ my cheekbones before!”

I am so, so cold. I imagine that you are colder. I love snow but being this cold is for the birds.

We don’t have enough snow! It’s snowed once this winter (well, it’s snowed more than that, but only one snow was big and significant, the others are dustings). I can see grass in yards around my neighborhood!

The cold is to be expected. It’s always coldest the third week of January! The cold snaps are how we earn the right to be proud of our winters here in Minnesota!

How cold is it there? How much snow do you have?

It’s colder than usual here. In NH we tend to get lots of snow, not lots of arctic weather. Perfect for me cause I love snowy outdoor activities but I’m not good with extreme cold. I don’t ski but even sledding and tromping around in the snow are fun for me. We live right near some trails so I love snowy winter wonderland hiking. But this cold! Everywhere I go it’s cold. The stores and cafes are cold. at home I am cold. I take hot baths to get warm. Burning the oil… I think this will pass by Monday for us so I can’t wait! You will probably think this is nothing but we are in the single digits here.

We were in negative air temps for the highs several days last week! One day, at 1 pm in the afternoon, the temp was -12 and that’s without windchill! We got up to 30 this weekend but it’s supposed to go subzero again this week! Stay warm!
