    good morning alison,

there’s an old hound ( often several) lounging in the cool dirt of the
crawlspace under every rambling old country house down here. also, raggedy
chickens roaming in the yard. abundant southern haiku subject matter.
there’s alot to be said for country living…. images of nature here can
make the city look sterile. nature is immanent ….

    - crawlspace dogs -

    dozing in coolness

    lounging flea-bit in the dirt

    exit, shake dust-clouds.

    -old yeller -

    old yellow hound sleeps

in the middle of dirt road

    cars drive around him…

    - chickens -

    ubiquitous fowl,

    tattered, scratching the dirt yard

    for each bug, loud clucks.

I like to think they’d stop and stare in Larchmont too but maybe with a bit of honking.
