The wind drops a twig
right at my feet — Could I too
be so lightly tossed?

The wind drops a twig
right at my feet — Could I too
be so lightly tossed?
a pigeon thuds
dead at my feet
did its life
go to heaven
much love

Beautiful poems, Kelly and Gillena. How fragile we feel with these experiences.

A few years back, I found a dead bird on my driveway. It didn’t look as if it had been harmed in anyway. No cat attack or anything. It looked as if it had just died mid flight and fallen out of the sky. It made me wonder about the life span of birds. It had never occurred to me that birds die of anything other than some sort of accident — a cat, hit a window too hard, hit a car…..
But of course there must be birds that die of old age.
I remember googling “bird life span” and being amazed that a crow could live for like 20 years. That impressed me.

Life’s fragility… will we ever embrace it? Excellent haiku.
