Funny, husbando, who is the lead baker in our household convinced me to leave out the cinnamon. He said that it's more French to leave it out and that it overwhelms the fruit - usually I douse my baked goods with cinnamon. But this time I left it out and it was really amazing. I could taste the pear so much more.

But cinnamon as an aphrodisiac! That's a whole new reason to bake the American way;)

kelly,

i was a massage therapist for years, and used essential oils
extensively in my practice [as aromatherapy]
cinnamon is a known aphrodisiac, and a
circulation stimulant.
we were taught specifically not to use it
on our male clients, so as not to get a "rise"
out of them. your friend's advice was right!

Ahhhhh. Warm kitchen smells....sounds yummy.

I remember--back in my dating days-- that someone told me that if I wanted to make a man attracted to me, I should bake cinnamon rolls or something with cinnamon in it before he came to my house to pick me up. Once he got there, the scent of my cinnamon-filled house would somehow magically make him like me.

Ha! That would be one piece of advice I never followed.
