Funny that you wrote this. I’ve been thinking the last couple days how it’s interesting that we both have bi-cultural marriages and we haven’t written haiku about it. Thanks for being the first! I’m just in the thinking stage about this topic but I am going to have to put pen to paper and start fleshing out this theme. Indeed, it is complicated!
You know….I had some of these exact thoughts. I too wondered how I had managed to get this far into the year without mentioning my bi-cultural life. My response was that it just goes to show that every couple, family and life, when it comes right down to the nitty-gritty of it all, is the same. All that other stuff is “dressing.” Peel it away and our lives are the same.
