My first reaction when I read this was that your toes were brusied. But then I thought, that doesn’t make sense and I knew you were painting the nails. I was always worried about my toenails in yoga class. All those toe touches and there you are face to face with them thinking, they need a trim, they are crooked, they are gross, they need paint…..
Oh, I’m glad you got it, Gillena! Ah, I think a streak of vanity is a good thing! I find I am happier when I give myself time to get gussied up, even if it’s just purple toe nails : )
I tend to subscribe to the “no pain no gain” theory of working out. In my mind suffering leads to progress. I guess that’s why my brain immediately equated purple with bruising. Perhaps I should paint my toenails more often!

So my sister just read this and thought that “bright shiny purple” meant bruised toes!
So…. does this make more sense?
preparing toenails
for yoga class once again -
bright shiny purple
But I kind of liked “my” being in there. Oh, damned syllable counts! Not really… We are getting ready to go modern haiku very soon….
