I have a visceral reaction around tools. I really dislike anything beyond a hammer. I wish I were a handy sort like the rest of the women I went to art school with, but alas I am not.
Ben also would like to be handy. He gets excited by the IDEA of tools if not the actual use of them. I’m not sure that either of us have ever successfully drilled anything into a wall or piece of plywood.
Orchids…. They are quite sexy flowers, no? I like the idea of them sitting around Home Depot balancing the whole effect….
Orchids are so sexy. Did you ever read The Orchid Theif, or see the movie version…what was it called….I’m spacing right now. Anyway. Read it and saw it. I gained an appreciation for orchids I never had before.
And I’d never thought about the total contrast of Home Depot selling “hard” tools and “sexy” orchids. But it is a contrast. A strange one. But thank goodness they sell them. Staring at the orchids and dreaming about owning one is one way to survive the Home Depot trips Hubby adores.
I’ve never worked up the courage to buy an orchid. I think I’d kill it and then I’d feel bad.
