here in georgia, we have had a few 15 degree nights. periodically
i chop the horse trough ice. the 3′ thick chunks left on my fenceposts
have not visibly changed all week.
abnormal cold everywhere.

Funny your encounter with your friend. I would have also looked at you like you were crazy. January is the coldest month of the year. And then February. And then March is just sooooooo long. And then sometimes it snows in April.

Hubby remembers that it snowed on his birthday once. April 16.

I remember thinking the man who left comment #2 was so obviously NOT a Minnesotan. That I should treasure spring’s offering? He had no idea that spring was still months away. And surely enough…the snow soon came again.

Soooo… when does it really start to get balmy in your neck of the woods? I told a friend yesterday that at least now that we are in January I feel like spring is around the corner and she looked at me like I was crazy. Or perhaps naive.
