Oh, I just love this one. This goes in my top ten for Kelly haiku.
I love the imagery in the first line, the fingernail clipping. So everyday, such a small thing we throw out. I love the imagery of the highway home. Completely humble, not romantic. And then the moon right in the middle…
I also love the way this one looks. It’s small. I was convinced just by the look of it that it had less than 15 syllables, but no. This one is 5.7.5. Perfect seventeen syllables.
The “balling socks” one is definitely in the top 5, I know that : )
In regard to humility… it’s overrated! Especially for women, I think. But humility works well in haiku. Ah, that’s why politicians need haiku! I think I’m rambling…
Well anyway, the second line IS romantic. The moon is romantic. That’s what so interesting about this one. The romantic component is sandwiched between two humble images. A really nice effect.
