I've been thinking about all these stubborn old oaks and their dead brown leaves for months, too. For a long while, I was trying to use the word "blanket" in the haiku about them. But I just couldn't get anything that I liked. Finally, the other day, while out walking my dogs, this one just popped into my head! That’s funny.
