I was definitely thinking about tea as an agent for civility and I like Chris's description of sipping tea in silence. I think I read in <a href="http://www.haikubytwo.com/haiku-mind-by-patricia-donegan-1-of-8/" rel="nofollow">Haiku Mind</a> somewhere about tea ceremonies that are just that - sitting together with tea but in silence.
