I thought of it when I posted this one. And I also thought about the difference in timing. Now, this year, the crab apples are all done and their petals have all fallen away. This time last year, they were just getting started. I've noticed, as time as moved one, that I am often comparing my haiku from this year to haiku from last year and noticing the timing of the different nature elements. It's nice to have this sort of record of a life. It's not something that would usually be commented on in a diary, but because we're keeping haiku, not journal entries, those seasonal markers are present. So you did convey the colors with "candied". I do love crab apples. Do I recall a haiku where you envy your neighbor's crab apple tree? "Candy" sounded right. It sounds like this one is in the voice of either Abby or Aires. I've thought of writing haiku in other voices. I've thought about Penny, Icarus, Yuki but haven't tried it yet. Something fun to do! I must ask though... what is a candied crab? I'm assuming some sort of vegetation but I googled it and the first thing that came up was a Thai delicacy. Either your doggies are enjoying the outdoors or they are enjoying exotic Asian seafood delicacies.... both make interesting pictures;) Cute!
