I resist the urge

to run into the field and

hug the baby cows

    the innocent gaze

of a newly born calf, soft -

    fearlessly open…

i have sat with several new babies over the years. they totter up,
smell your hand and look you in the eye. no fear, just gentleness.
alison, i have hugged a few.

but i’ve also been chased by protective mama!

Johanna, what a big smile I have now! Thanks!

I’ve thought a bit about the protective mamas… and the protective farmers. They might be a little confused about why I was hugging their calves if I decided to do so. But baby cows with those lovely big eyes… so amazing!

Ah… I feel this way about my doggies everyday. Luckily, I dont’ have to resit the urge. I just hug em. And that, my friend, is how they got to be so dang spoiled!
