Nice reflection! I love haiku about haiku. It HAS become a way of life for us both.
You mentioned earlier about reflecting on your haiku from one year ago and I have been doing this, too. I have noticed changes in the way I approach haiku. I use a nature reference more and more and I think that is because after doing this for a year I notice the subtleties of the natural world more and how my day to day life interacts with and is a part of nature.
Of course I still like to write haiku that some would say aren’t haiku but just have 5 - 7 - 5 going on, but the “subtle loveliness” that you mention. This is what I love about haiku.

Awesome, I think all Haiku writers are gentle to be around. Keeps one grounded by following nature. Agree with Alison. Keep Haikuing

haiku has affected my life in the same way,
i speak less and notice more - receptive to nature’s
sweet small messages…
pare away excess
whittle down to metaphor
subtle loveliness.
