Shame on that 13 year old girl! But then again, I totally know what you mean. What sort of 13 year old girl would give up guarding her BFF's dressing curtain. I mean, like, somebody might have, like, totally seen something!!!!!

But at least you were wearing nice underwear! : )

Maybe now you'll take the advice offered by flight attendants everywhere. If the plane should loose oxygen and the oxygen masks appear, they always say you should put on your mask before helping a child.

Next time you go to the pool, you'll know that you should change into your dry clothes before helping Penny!

A lovely and sporty shade of blue. I am so glad I was wearing nice underwear. If not, I would have been truly mortified!

Now the complete story is this, which I feel compelled to share. I was at the town pool, changing with Penny in the dressing room after a swim. After Penny is dressed and I am in the middle of doing so (me wearing a t-shirt and my blue undies) Penny darts out of the dressing room and toward the front of the building.

I ask a 13 year old girl who was still wearing her swimsuit to help get her but she would not. She was too busy guarding the changing stall to make sure that no one would spot a glance of her 13 year old friend changing on the other side of the curtain.

I was stunned and then quickly darted out in my undies to catch Penny right before she runs into a parking lot. There were about 25 people standing in line and the parking lot was full.

I thought a lot about this. First of all, I was mortified to run around in my undies in front of my very small town. Second, I thought of modesty! The difference in modesty between a 13 year old and a 40 year old. A 40 year old simply cannot cling to modesty. But I remember being that age, 13 years old and being so shy. Third, I was kind of amazed that no one jumped into help! I think our culture is now in a state of being soooo hands off other peoples children and I wonder if Penny would have made it to running into the parking lot if I were even a few seconds behind. It looks like she would have.
