Oh! It’s bittersweet, isn’t it? She’s growing up and doesn’t need you as much, yet you’re also chomping at the bit to have more time to yourself too. I’m sure she’ll do well. And I’m sure she picked out the perfect outfit to wear on her first day of school!

I was really surprised to find myself sad. I thought I’d be all like – woohoo! I’m going to the gym! And I do feel this too… it will be nice to get some time to myself. But I’m realizing the days of Penny being 100 percent of the time attached to me are coming to an end and it is indeed bittersweet.

    What did she wear?

My sister-in-law took my niece shopping for back to school clothes for pre-school. She took her to the girls’ section of a store and Ella refused to look at the clothes there. She wanted to shop in the boys’ section instead.

She picked out a gray and black shirt that says “Can you dig it?” and has a bulldozer on it. She wanted to wear it on her first day of school.

Perhaps she and Penny would get along?

I teared up reading this one! So much pride and excitement and sadness rolled into one day.
