Stuck behind a light

that goes red green red three times —

I breathe mindfully.

Suddenly, hundreds

of crows fill the sky. Hundreds.

I mean it. Hundreds.

From where? Going where?

Their doings are a puzzle

I wish I could solve.

Then maybe, maybe,

I could also figure out

which path I should choose.

Oh, I like this. When I first read this, I was using my iPad so only saw the first poem. Then as I scrolled down, I was happy to see the haiku continue. The birds flying, and being in that moment seems to be the “haiku moment” while the other haiku set the scene. It’s very effective. And some very good lines. I like “there doings are a puzzle”. Yes, there doings are a puzzle! And as you suggest, so are ours.

I like this series Kelly and where it goes. When I stay late at work, which is seldom ; ), we notice an enormous gathering of crows near Chicago and 94 area of downtown. I like to think of them getting together for happy hour. Perhaps you are seeing the same group of crows I am? downtown?

I like this style of Haiku set of one following the other.

Yes! Catherine, it was the same crows! I was sitting at the light right by the Walker Art Center, stuck in afternoon rush hour traffic. It was around 5:30-ish. There were so many of them. They are there, all of them, on a regular basis? This is so strange! I’m glad to know I’m not the only one to have witnessed them. I’ve never seen that many crows together ever before!
