I teach him how to
measure, steep, garnish and serve
my favorite tea
April is National Poetry Month and we’re celebrating!
Each Monday this month, we’re throwing out a topic and inviting readers to share haiku on the subject.
This week’s topic: Kitchen
Add your haiku as a comment. Let’s see how many we can collect!

Kitchens are for cooking,
But my Tommy won’t get it.
He thinks it’s a loo.

Why should I clean the
kitchen floor when my two dogs
already do it

Our kitchen reno:
quite the journey, but worth it -
kitchen of our dreams.

Home, in the kitchen,
The smell of a home cooked meal,
The best time of day.

The heart of the home
Where we sit and laugh and eat
My sunny kitchen

Three about Grandma’s cooking…
Grandma cooked up smells
Stirring, Hunger…Memories
Never known again
Rich taste of poor foods
Grandma’s kitchen comforted
Mild taste, full of love
Is Grandma cooking?
That sweet smell is familiar,
No…its the neighbors…
One about our dog…
Three of us eating
Pitter-patter, she joins in
she licks her bowl clean

whines in proportion to it’s
bachelor emptiness.

He is doing the dishes.
That really is love.

Waiting in stillness
The rain tip taps on the glass
I swallow a cough

Oops, can we imagine my haiku is set in a kitchen? It was 1AM and I was reading many posts simultaneously. I somehow missed the kitchen theme.
Nice site by the way.

Simon,
Funny, when I read your haiku I imagined that it was in the kitchen, so let’s just say it’s in the kitchen:) Of course I also imagined a cup of hot tea….

What fun! I love reading the haiku that everyone comes up with! They are all so original.
Thanks, everyone!

out of discord and disdain
