Way back in May I wrote about how I came to purchase and love my Haiku diaper bag. And boy do I love it. I can’t think of any item in my day to day life that I use more. Really. But I wanted to know more. Why are these bags so haiku? And how did haiku inspire this company? Here’s what Sharon Eisenhauer, designer and owner of Haiku Bags, has to say:

What does the poetic form of haiku have in common with your line of bags?

.They are simple and concise, like a haiku. There is everything you need, but nothing you don’t.

How did you come up with the idea to name your bags after an ancient form of poetry?

. I have always been drawn to things Japanese (perhaps I was Japanese in a former life). My daughter is adopted from Japan. I use the tag line “poetically functional”. It fits.

Who wrote the haiku that come printed on a tag with each of your bags? How did you choose this haiku?

A friend, Mark Hillman, wrote it. It showed a sense of humor, which, to me, is vital to the brand and life.

.

I love that my haiku diaper bag is really a “To-Go Bag” and so I use it for many purposes. Which Haiku product do you most use in your day-to-day life?
.
I use all of them. Backpack when traveling. We have a new style for Spring 10 that I have been carrying called Hobo. I use both size wallets…
.
Do you write haiku? If yes, do you have one that you’d like to share? If no…oh, come on, give it a try. Even if it’s mediocre it’s still fun.
