I tromp through the snow

seeded bird feeder in hand –

I’ve become my dad.

Alison doesn’t

have electricity due

to a big snow storm.

her red toboggan through the

white and black landscape

weathering the storm

fluffy morning snow

followed by afternoon sun —

amongst lonely homes and fields -

snow keeps crashing down

not a fluffy fox

she’s a puppy who loves snow -

Yuki is her name

the road dusted with fresh snow -

fifteen wild turkeys

my head pounds from nights

of daughter not sleeping -

the snow keeps falling
