On the way…
Sunday morning drive
wispy leafless trees pass us -
we watch quietly
.
We get there…
my child covered in
chocolate - a grandmother
scowls hard at us both
.
Our way home…
“She must be from Mass.”
I complain as we walk past
hardy Marigolds

The man next to me
at a red light lights up a pipe!
I wish I knew him.

a chance encounter
with a stranger and I’m left
holding his pen

People like to ask —
Planning to start a family?
I practice restraint.
